 Broderick Robinson's Drum Recital

On October 1st, 2016- We hosted Broderick Robinson's annual Drum Recital and it was  HIT! (Literally).

Drums are a unique instrument that requires patience, dedication and consistency.  It is designed to motivate, explore, and be exciting and enjoyable.  Mr. Robinson has been teaching drums for over 40 years.  Instructing is his passion, purpose and destiny.

October wouldn’t be the same without Mr. Robinson’s Annual Drum Recital at Southern Maryland’s Mega Music Store! Hot Licks Guitar Shop located in Waldorf, Maryland.  Mr. & Mrs. Robinson hosted their 6th annual event on October 1st in Hot Licks Guitar Shop’s 4k sq. newly designed concert hall.  The concert hall was decorated with colorful balloons and bright lights, as the children wore custom made t-shirts for the occasion.

The goal of this drum recital is to inspire every student that has the desire or skill level to participate in the recital to break the fear factor of performing in front of a live audience and to perform with other musicians.

This year’s event hosted 24 of Mr. Robinson’s drum students taking the stage with a full band to accompany them, which included steel drums, saxophone, two piano players and the drum instructor himself on bass guitar.  This event brings together students of all ages and their families to showcase the talent these students have gained in the last year in Mr. Robinson’s classes.  The concert room was packed with family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and the community with standing room only with over 355 guests who signed in for the show.  Some family members traveled in from North Carolina, New York and Pennsylvania to see this awesome recital.

Since this recital is about family and music, there is always something cooking for the guest; and this year it was hot dogs on the grill, fresh popped corn, cookies, bottled water, and much, much more.  Families spend the entire day enjoying the different styles of music playing, fellowshipping with one another, encouraging each student as they finished their set on the drums and as they await the next act.

This event is coordinated by Mrs. Robinson, two wonderful parents; Yvette Presley, Denise Jones and her daughter Robyn Jones, all who setup and served each person at the concessions stand. There were two young ladies, Maureen & Maurisha Jackson, who greeted and managed the sign-in table for all guest who arrived.  Along with them were Derrick & Erick Robinson, the mega production team, “222 Productionz Company” who videoed the entire recital and the photographer who took several photos of each student.

The Robinson’s are a great husband and wife duo who are now retired from the US Federal Government and tireless in their efforts to gain greater heights with their students.  We can’t wait to see what next year brings.
